Addition and Subtraction Math Flowers

Here they are! Addition and subtraction math flowers! Such a great way to work on rainbow facts addition and subtraction, as well as extended rainbow facts to 20! It is a fantastic way to build on fine motor skills, to promote stronger writing muscles and include a hands on approach to learning.

This resource is best to use in rotations or math groups and helps students to consolidate their knowledge and quick recall of these facts. Thread the first part of beads onto the flower stem and them thread the remaining beads. Students then count the total and say the whole sum to enforce knowledge.

Have students flip their flower over and slide the two parts together to make the whole number. Now get students to count and slide the part to take away and find the remaining part, which is the answer. Students then recite the sum. Students can also fine tune their ability to count collections backwards, this is often a difficult skill to master.
