Chalk Board Writing

Ever wondered how you can encourage the correct pencil grip in a more exciting way? Chalk writing with small pieces of chalk forces your hand into using the correct grip. Have students use chalk boards and chalk to write sight words or phonics sounds and encourage correct hand grip at the same time.

These boards are the ones I use in the classroom for rotations. They are only $4 from Kmart, what a bargain! I used metallic sharpies to rule lines on one side of each of the chalkboards to assist with writing words and sentences and left the other side plain for drawing and other classroom activities.
